Alice in Waterkloof

Morning friends. Do you sometimes feel like you would like to escape the city? Maybe to a magical place far away from here? Well, there is no need to travel far at all. Alice in Waterkloof is a hop away. This nursery/coffee shop is a special place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Where better to recharge your batteries than surrounded by ‘Peace in the home’ (that grows everywhere) in a conservatory haven, to the sound of splashing water?

This little city escape opened it’s doors in August 2011, as the revamped Alice in Waterkloof. The previous nursery had closed down that May. Jan and Albert saw a gap. “There was a definitive need for a nursery” says Albert. The clever pair added a coffee shop and enhanced the shopping at Alice and her décor neighbour, MG Design box. Their Carrot cake is the best I have ever had and the Nougat cake is legendary. (I’m just saying.)

The chef and owner of Alice, Albert, is a talented, soft-spokne soul, that lives and breathes creativity and food. He has dedicated the last 12 years to all things culinary. Previously Albert worked as a caterer, but since the inception of Alice he has not looked back.

Once a month Albert treats patrons to a chefs evening. Where guests can come enjoy a 5 course meal in Wonderland. Bring your own wine and make a night of it.

Alice is open Monday to Friday, 9-5 and Saturdays 9-2. Mail them at aliceinwaterkloof@hotmail.co.za to receive the newsletter. Alice is also available for private functions.

I can’t wait to go back for some more delicious cake and tea.

Ciao, Lelanie.

Disclaimer: Alice in Waterkloof is not my shop. This is not the Alice in Waterkloof website. To get hold of Albert and the team, please call them on 082 726 9523 or email at aliceinwaterkloof@hotmail.co.za.
